Antioxidant actives are able to protect dermal fibroblasts from oxidative damage.

Antioxidant Capacity

Oxidative stress is a well to induce both physical damage and reduce function of dermal cells.

As a result, anti-oxidant active ingredients are an effective way to protect against damage and loss of function.

The antioxidant capcity of an active ingredient may be evaluated in fibroblasts following exposure to a peroxide challenge in the presence and absence of the active. After challenge, the residual concentration of oxidative species present in the culture is evaluated using a colorimetric method in 96-well plates.
