Description

CnT‑XP3 Biopsy Maintenance Medium is a chemically defined, animal‑component‑free formulation specifically designed to maintain tissue biopsies in a homeostatic state. It supports the preservation of viability and tissue structure for more than seven days in explant culture and is also suitable for biopsy transportation. Unlike conventional culture media, which are optimized for maximal cell proliferation, CnT‑XP3 is formulated to maintain tissue integrity during the period prior to cell isolation or experimental processing.
The medium is fully defined, free of all human and animal‑derived components, and ready to use as supplied. Its composition helps maintain high‑quality cellular material: biopsies stored in CnT‑XP3 for up to three days yield high‑quality RNA with RIN values above 8.0 and produce 25% higher cell numbers after isolation compared with standard culture media. Cells isolated from tissue maintained in CnT‑XP3 also exhibit enhanced functionality and stronger proliferation during the first week of culture.
In one comparison, primary human keratinocyte cultures seeded at 4,000 cells/cm² and grown for seven days in CnT‑PR medium showed a four‑fold increase in cell number when the cells were isolated from biopsies maintained in CnT‑XP3, relative to biopsies stored in traditional culture media. This demonstrates the medium’s ability to protect tissue viability and improve downstream cell isolation efficiency.
