HDPs are normal human dermal progenitor cells isolated precisely from the dermal papilla region of the hair follicle and cryopreserved at an early passage. As a distinct fibroblast sub‑population enriched in progenitor cells, they differ from general dermal fibroblast cultures. In vivo, dermal papilla cells are believed to play a key role in hair follicle induction and in the formation of the papillary layer of the dermis.
Because this material is of human origin, it must be handled as hazardous. Although the cells have been tested negative for HIV‑1, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C, they should be treated as potentially infectious. Appropriate biocontainment procedures, protective equipment, and laboratory safety precautions are required to avoid accidental exposure.
HDP fibroblasts are supplied cryopreserved in fully defined CRYO‑Defined medium to ensure high recovery and viability after thawing.
