Description

HEMas are normal human epidermal melanocytes isolated from adult donor material and cryopreserved at an early passage. When cultured in CnT‑40 medium, these cells benefit from the presence of PCT factors and additional cofactors that support strong proliferation and extended cellular longevity.
Because the material is of human origin, it must be handled as hazardous. Although testing has confirmed the absence of HIV‑1, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C, the cells should be treated as potentially infectious. Appropriate biocontainment measures, protective equipment, and standard laboratory safety procedures must be followed to prevent accidental exposure.
HEMas maintained in CnT‑40 medium display a proliferative, mainly bipolar phenotype and retain melanin expression throughout culture. The cells are supplied cryopreserved in fully defined CRYO‑Defined medium to ensure high recovery and viability following thawing.
