HEMns are normal human epidermal melanocytes isolated from juvenile donor material and cryopreserved at an early passage. When cultured in CnT‑40 medium, these cells benefit from PCT factors and additional cofactors that support strong proliferation and extended longevity. Juvenile‑derived melanocytes exhibit particularly robust growth and a prolonged culture lifespan.
Because this material is of human origin, it must be handled as hazardous. Although the cells have tested negative for HIV‑1, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C, they should be treated as potentially infectious. Appropriate biocontainment procedures, protective equipment, and laboratory safety measures are required to prevent accidental exposure.
HEMns growing in CnT‑40 medium display a proliferative, mainly bipolar phenotype and retain melanin expression throughout culture. The cells are supplied cryopreserved in fully defined CRYO‑Defined medium to ensure high recovery and viability after thawing.
