Scientific resources
CnT-40-HC is a serum-free formulation designed for high-efficiency isolation and expansion of primary melanocytes. The serum needs to be sourced by the user to deliver the desired cell behavior and known to meet the necessary regulatory requirements. We recommend 1 % serum supplementation.
Melanocytes growing in CnT-40-HC medium display primarily a proliferative bipolar phenotype. The cells retain melanin expression. It contains progenitor cell-targeted (PCT) factors to help retain a proliferative phenotype, plus a range of melanocyte-specific factors (including endothelin-1 and endothelin-3). It does not contain antibiotics / antimycotics, and is free of PMA and TPA.
We also offer complementary media specifically tailored for melanocyte differentiation (CnT-PR-MD) and whitening studies (CnT-PR-MH). Please see the Melanocyte Page for an overview.
The medium undergoes a range of QC tests in our lab before being released for sale. Please see the datasheet for details.
